Messy Yellow Pages?

PING! Email arrives from Yellow Pages in the US, which is going down the meta search route.

A new site, Yellowpages.travel [remember dot-travel?], searches across Travelocity, Hotwire, Kayak, Expedia, Orbitz, Travelzoo and a few others for flights, hotels, cars and packages.

What seems like a nice idea actually then throws up a rather odd interface - perhaps it's just us? - where the source brands are displayed across a horizontal and the user then clicks on each to get results, or sent off to the website.

Thoughts?

Ha. Frames! A search engines worst nightmare. The site looks horrible, and the font, why so large?

Google we know loves content, where's the content, it's just a frame with the travel site at the bottom.

I had to wait 35 seconds for the results according to the site, no thanks, I'm off to Kayak.

I saw this in November or December when they launched it and frankly I just wrote it off as a half-baked attempt at metasearch. The Yellow pages are not exactly innovative and they've been struggling to keep up with other search engines and to maintain their relevancy. This would have been a lame attempt in 2002, now it is just sad.
