The Recommended
We happily participated in the T-List earlier this year - but the fact is that it grew to such a unmanageable size that anyone trying to find the decent ones was faced with a frustrating and time-consuming task.
Stephen Joyce recently re-published the T-List but separated it into sectors, such as consumer, business, etc.
Using his industry list as a base, this is Travolution's The Recommended for anyone interested in the travel industry and its relationship with the web and new media. It is not intended to be a list of "travel blogs".
All the sites listed below are updated regularly and are "blogs" - rather than news sites which joined the T-List and clearly masquerade as blogs.
Like the T-List, we would like this to grow to become a de-facto first port of call for industry folk and those with an interest in the online travel industry and new media.
Usual procedures apply: let us know via the comments section if you think your blog or another we have missed should be included on the list. We will happily add more if they qualify. Spread the word by re-posting the list yourself on your own blog.
There is an element of link-baiting here, of course, but we feel the T-List has actually become a rather over-sized beast which doesn't actually give our Travolution readers a decent snapshot of the blogosphere.
So here it is, The Recommended:

I'd like to add one more GREAT travel blog to the list -- Airfarewatchdog.com's Airfare WatchBlog. It's a great blog on both airfare deals and general airfare travel in general. Not to be missed!!!
Mike Martin
Anonymous: Sorry, you may have mis-read the introduction.
The Recommended is for industry blogs, rather than consumer blogs such as the Airfarewatchdog.com.
The reason we have created it is because the original T-List was full of consumer blogs and largely irrelevant to industry people.
Trying not to be hard-nosed about it - just keeping The Recommended fresh and applicable.
Of course, feel free to suggest to Airfarewatchdog that they re-print The Recommended on their blog.
Kevin,
You could include Les Explorers, I have a "interview category" with great english interview from CEO.
look at : http://www.lesexplorers.com/50226711/linterview_du_pro.php
best regards from a froggy man !
Claude
Claude: Happy to add Les Explorers.
Thanks Kevin. That's inspired me to dig out the old bloglines account and refresh it.
Dan
Dan G: you're welcome. that was our intention. there isn't a decent list out there of good blogs which tackle the machinations behind the scenes of the online travel industry.
hopefully this will go some way to addressing it.
Hi Kevin, Thanks for including me in the list. Really appreciate that. Of course, erm, FastenYourSeatbelts offers quite a few English articles too.
Best regards from Austria
Karin
Kevin, great work with this stripped down list. Found some terrific sites that I haven't visited for too long. So glad to see all these passionate people still at it!
To your point, the t-list was getting a bit off focus...even my own BedJump.com, although popular, didn't really belong.
May I also suggest another site for the revised list--it's my hotel industry 'insider' blog out of Vancouver called VacantReady.com
Cheers,
Chris C.
Have we been forgotten Kev ?
Ok been on holiday so no update for a week, but hope to be blogging next week from Sea Princess on an educational trip
Lee: alas, no, you haven't been forgotten.
The Recommended is a list of blogs for industry professionals, rather than blogs targeting consumers.
We felt there is a need to bring these ones together as the original T-List was getting too weighed down with consumer blogs, making it difficult for those interested in industry issues to find.
I hope you can appreciate our motivation on this one.
We would happily include Select World Travel on a list of consumer blogs.
Here is another blog to add to the list...MySiteCast at http://www.mysitecast.blogspot.com
Hi Kevin,
Thanks for listing my blog... I never got onto the T-list.... even though I jumped through all the hoops that I had too....
Don't forget Ed's new blog! :(
http://www.travelremark.com/
Finally, don't you find it ironic that a magazine that covers "disruptive businesses" (i.e. online companies) should choose to disrupt the T-List
Now you can see how fun being disruptive can be!
Best wishes. Alex
Anonymous: Sorry MySiteCast does not make the list. it is a review of hotels, not a issue-based blog. pur apologies, we are deliberately being tough with the criteria this time.
Alex: Yes, we will add Travelremark.com to the list.
Judging by some of the blogs on there, I can suggest blog.travellerspoint.com :)
By the way, why is it that when I hit 'show original post' in the comments area, only some of the links actually show up as links and the others just show up as text. It's not like that in the article, so is it something with the way they are linked to? Curious... never noticed it before!
I seem to be forgotten Alas:-)
Happy Hotelier: Happy to add you.
Sam I Am: I suspect the Travellerspoint blog is more aimed at consumers. happy to be corrected.
I don't know, it depends on your definition of 'aimed at consumers'. Yes, it's read by a lot of our members who often tend to be consumers, but we also post industry related stuff from time to time (I'll admit it's not that much though :) ).
The reason I suggest it is that a few of the blogs are also consumer blogs or similar to ours (realtravel's blog for example or travel rants - the title for that one actually reads "Holiday advice and travel news for consumers"). To be perfectly clear, I understand if you don't add the blog as we don't blog enough and probably carry less industry news than the others.
Also please don't remove those links for my having pointed them out; they're both great resources and just the first two that jumped out at me :) I'm half messing with you guys anyway, these lists are driving me crazy, even Eric has gotten in on them and restarting them... LOL :
http://blog.travellerspoint.com/101/
http://blog.travellerspoint.com/118/
Sam I Am: I take your point entirely. let's have a look at what you churn out over the next few weeks and go from there.
You are right about Travel Rants but Darren's blog specifcally talks about industry issues affecting consumers, far more than "I went to blah, blah, blah, and it had a nice holiday, etc".
Thank you so much, Sir:-)
Was just playing with http://www.listphile.com/ and that would be the perfect place for one of these lists.
Thanks for including me :)
Proud to be listed with some very good blogs!
I'm not sure if I'm forgotten or deliberately omitted.
My blog has both industry and consumer elements.
Paul: looking through briefly i would argue that it is primarily a consumer-focussed blog. happy to look through regularly and re-evaluate.
No worries... :)
You might consider adding Sunverse.net - a blog about Virtual Worlds and the Tourism Industry.
Thanks for including me on your Recommend List. -- Alan A. Lew (Web 2.0 Travel Tools)
Alan: Good tip. We've had a look and it's very interesting, especially for travel companies still mulling over whether to (spend lots of money!!) experiment with Second Life.
Chrispitality: agree with you about T-List. will add the Vacant Ready blog though.
Kevin,
The PhoCusWright blog is now up and running, take a look. Postings start with our analysts and comments are welcome. You should be commenting as a matter of fact.

Afrikatourism blog "Helps the responsible traveller find undiscovered, authentic experiences in southern Africa".
Considered 'recommended reading' by the editors of Planeta.com, The Global Journal of Practical Ecotourism
Kurt Ackermann
AfrikaTourism: As previously mentioned. Sorry, but The Recommended is a list of business blogs for industry profesionals rather than consumers.
It's a good traveling blog, I found similar shopping site Couponalbum.com where so many traveling coupons, deals and offers are available from more than 1200 stores...!!!
Anonymous: Sorry, Couponalbum.com doesn't make the list. The Recommended is a list of business blogs for industry profesionals rather than consumers.
Instead of recommending blogontravel.com I can suggest two alternatives:
lavoya.com, a fast and easy blog apparantly focusing on backpackers. more rich in features is travellerspoint.com
Anonymous: Sorry, both the sites you suggest are consumer blogs. The Recommended is a list of business blogs for industry profesionals rather than consumers.
Apologies...
Darn, I hope I would do my blog in English. I am publishing a blog about online travel marketing and technologies in Finnish and it is a bit lonely up here.
Likka: Why don't you send me an English translation of one of your best posts and we will happily reproduce it.
Thanks, will do that later this month!
I sent my contribution to you by email last week, did you get it?
Younger body: SPAM!!!!! irrelevant to the discussion. go away...
Ipod: go away. Spam. Delete. Delete. Delete.
grt stuff on travel blogging, web2 etc cheers jain
