Person of the Year is...

...You - according to Time Magazine.

This is actually quite a nice touch for a magazine that normally recognises the achievements of politicians, philanthropists, intellectuals, and businesspeople in its infamous end-of-year front page.

The cover star this year has been chosen to acknowledge the role of everyday computer users in defining the new age of the internet and media through user-generated content and involvement with sites like MySpace, YouTube, Bebo and Wikipedia.

Best person they've picked for years.

I'm writing my acceptance speach! ;-)

They are correct though, without internet users participating in sites like Bebo, trip advisor, etc they wouldn't be successful.

I know that my blog wouldn't be the same without people reading it and participating.

Very nice of them but I think Time is ignoring those that is awarding! Let´s have a look at the results of the vote:
Hugo Chavez: 35%
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad: 21%
Nancy Pelosi: 12%
You Tube guys: 11%
...
Why Hugo Chavez hasn´t been awarded? (no precisely my favourite). May be it wasn´t "politically-correct"?
If they want to make "you" the person of the year, why the decision has been put to the vote? Taking the piss, I think.

Once you've seen Jon Stewart of the Daily Show's take on this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-hgjEEN9cbY it's hard to take Time magazine's decision seriously.
