Travolution gets a digital edition

Dismayed at not having your own copy of the June edition of Travolution – fear not, help is on the way.

We are now producing the magazine in a digital format, with every article on every page available in high resolution. There are even hyperlinks to the websites of our advertisers!

But while the debate over digital editions in the printed media never seems to be too far away from the minds of proprietors, publishers and editors, opportunities and the benefits for travel companies with online brochures are gathering pace as technology improves.

[What to do with those brochures]

Great idea! Where do you subscribe to get the digital or paper copy of the magazine?

I run an online magazine, and initially had it designed in PDF, which I found pretty quickly, was not very flexible, so went down the HTML route.

at the moment this is just a trial to see what readers/users think, which is why we have put it out 3 weeks after the print edition arrived on people's desks. we have some plans in the pipeline for a full roll-out of the digi edition later in the year, but in the meantime...enjoy!

It's a realy useful tool. With Travel weekly it's great to be able to see digital copy on a thursday evening if working late and receive hard copy through the letterbox on a Friday. I'm sure it will be the same with Travolution

While appreciating the access to the digital copy - it would be convenient to have a PDF format too - I'd like all our staff to read the magazine - and having it in PDF makes it easy to circulate it.

Great job with the magazine though - it's a great read!!

many thanks for all your comments. we are looking to gather as much feedback on the digital edition as possible, before making a decision as to where it fits with our overall publishing strategy. we haven't looked into a PDF format as yet. hopwever the digital edition does have a handy print function that produces copies on a par with a PDF. cheers.

I think it's an unecessary addition to an already great site.

You're are wise enough to have your main news articles available to view online and the additon of the digital edition adds little value.

For people wishing to share the wisdom from your site/magazine i sugest forwarding them a link to thte site for them to subscribe themselves...

once again, thanks for all the feedback. the last comment is in fact the only negative one so far, both privately, via email, or on the blog. interesting times...
