The end of the subscription model

Or so it would seem.

Web users "prefer ads to charges".

There are plenty of travel websites out there who must be thinking their so-called exclusive content, hidden behind a subscription wall, needs to be unleashed on users.

Good for SEO, too.

This is a game of poker.

If there are no websites that offer the same content (anywhere on the web) - then you may, if the content has value, be able to offer the subscription model.

It only takes one or two websites to give similar content away for free (paid for by advertising) then the subscription model in that market is in peril.

Maybe also micropayments will change emphasis back to subscriptions.
